Chetan Sharma explains why Yuzvendra Chahal was omitted from India’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad

The chief selector of Team India, Chetan Sharma, has revealed why Yuzvendra Chahal was left out of the team for the T20 World Cup in 2021. Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the Indian T20 World Cup squad surprised fans and the player alike.

Despite being India’s No. 1 spinner in limited-overs since 2018, Chahal did not make the team for the T20 World Cup 2021. As for spin bowling options, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Rahul Chahar were selected. The Indian pin arsenal now has five members, including Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy.

Shikhar Dhawan and Kuldeep Yadav, who teamed with India’s regular first choices in limited-overs cricket, were also dismissed. 

Washington Sundar was not able to make the cut due to an injury he suffered in India’s practice match in England against the County Select.

A senior Indian selector revealed Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from India’s T20 World Cup squad in an interview with the Press.
