Milind Kumar will Play Minor League Cricket in the United States After Retiring from Indian Cricket

Indian cricketer Milind Kumar, a former player of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has retired. The Philadelphians will represent him after he retires from the Major League Cricket in the USA.

In following in the footsteps of Unmukt Chand, the 30-year-old cricketer relocated to the United States after retiring from Indian cricket. Before Chand, Siddarth Trivedi, Harmeet Singh, and Smit Patel had also joined the MLC. Interestingly, both played for the Rajasthan Royals team.

According to BCCI’s rule, a player (male) cannot take part in other leagues in world cricket if he hasn’t retired from Indian cricket. “Yes, I’ve informed the BCCI of my decision to retire from cricket in India. I enjoyed playing for Delhi with great players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ishant Sharma, and it’s time to move on,” Milind Kumar told Times of India.

In the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season, Kumar scored over 1000 runs, also played for the Delhi team in the 2014 IPL season, and was with the Bangalore team in the 2019 season. The IPL, however, did not give him the opportunity to debut.

He has represented Delhi, Sikkim and Tripura in domestic cricket, scoring 2988 runs at 46.68 with nine centuries and 15 half-centuries. Twenty-three List-A runs at 43.04 and 1176 T20 runs at 29.40.

Delhi defeated England in a practice match in 2013 when he scored 78* off 85. He played for the Board President’s XI against New Zealand in 2017. Now that he has left the BCCI, Milind Kumar can play in other franchise leagues. In addition to Smit Patel, who left Indian cricket earlier this year, the Barbados Tridents have selected him to play in this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
