CA is not Expecting an Ashes Boycott or a Huge Exodus of English Players, According to Reports

Despite rumours of English players withdrawing from the Ashes owing to Australia’s rigorous COVID-19 rules, CA expects England to field a full-strength team for this summer’s Ashes. It should be emphasised that next week will be crucial for English players, since they will receive a thorough briefing from CA on Australia’s strict quarantine laws.

In a similar vein, CA Chief Nick Hockley indicated that he has not received any information from ECB Chief Tom Harrison regarding a weakened side touring their country for the forthcoming Ashes. CA is still hoping to tour this summer with a full-fledged lineup that was finalised four months ago. Their cricket body, on the other hand, recognises the possibility that some players would withdraw from the series owing to personal reasons.

For similar reasons, several Australian cricketers did not travel to Bangladesh or the West Indies. It was also claimed that certain English players have a strained relationship with the ECB and are hesitant to skip the trip. England’s players are not in the mood to subject their families to a lengthy quarantine.

In both countries, there have been distinct COVID-19 experiences, while in the UK, life has returned to normal following the big vaccination deployment. In Australia, however, strict procedures and quarantine protocols remain in place, which English players and their families are attempting to evade.

The CA will collaborate with the government to ensure a successful cricket summer

“Cricket Australia continues to work closely with the ECB and Australian government officials in preparation for the forthcoming Ashes series, which will be the highlight of one of cricket’s most historic summers. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, CA is “currently preparing the operational requirements of this trip and working with the ECB on the projected make-up of the England touring party.”

“As was the case last season, CA will work constructively and in cooperation with government to offer a summer of cricket while safeguarding the community’s health, wellness, and safety,” the statement said.
