Jason Gillespie Responds To Shane Warne’s Criticism Of R Ashwin

Former Australia fast bowler Jason Gillespie slammed Shane Warne for labelling Ravi Ashwin’s performance in the Indian Premier League 2021 “disgraceful.” Ashwin was investigated for allegedly violating the Spirit of Cricket during the Delhi Capitals’ match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Tim Southee and KKR captain Eoin Morgan were engaged in an argument with Ashwin. The incident arose after Ashwin attempted to sneak a second run after the ball struck Rishabh Pant’s arms. He received a lot of backlash from the cricket community and netizens for his actions. Former Knights captain Dinesh Karthik also addressed the issue at the press conference.

Why do we blame the player that plays within the laws of the game?' – Jason Gillespie hits back at Shane Warne for criticising Ravi Ashwin

Meanwhile, Warne was irritated when Ashwin attempted to grab the extra run. Morgan, according to the veteran, was well within his rights to criticise the DC off-spinner.

Warne took on Twitter to say, “The world shouldn’t be split on this subject and Ashwin.” It is simple: it is disgusting and should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that person again? @Eoin16 had every right to nail him!!!!

Jason Gillespie lets his guard down and opened up on the topic about R Ashwin

Gillespie, on the other side, felt Ashwin had done nothing wrong and followed the Marylebone Cricket Club’s rules.

“The world should not be divided on this topic and Ashwin. It is pretty simple- it is disgraceful & should never happen. Why do we blame the player that plays within the laws of the game? I believe players have every right to play within the laws of the game as set out by the MCC.”

“The ‘spirit of cricket’, and what constitutes this, differs from country to country, and in some cases, between states/counties/provinces/islands. The laws of the game are in place. Stick to them, and the grey areas within our game are removed.”

Later, Ashwin sent a series of Tweets in which he stood up for himself in the face of widespread criticism. Ashwin was again chastised in 2019 for running out Jos Buttler at the non-striker’s end.

Gautam Gambhir makes a huge comment on Eoin Morgan and KKR

Under Gautam Gambhir’s guidance, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had an incredible run. Between 2011 and 2017, the former Indian opener led the side to two championships. However, since parting ways with the southpaw, the team hasn’t had a great time. Despite making the playoffs in 2018, they had a difficult time the next two seasons.

The Knight Riders have also had a poor start to the IPL 2021 season, losing six of their first ten games. KKR have risen to prominence owing to their interesting strategy, in addition to their hot and cold performance. Eoin Morgan, the captain, has been seen receiving from team analyst Nathan Leamon. This approach has angered Gambhir, who has criticised his old teammates.

KKR’s tactics do not impress Gautam Gambhir

The veteran even said that if this tactic had been employed during his time as captain of the KKR, he would have resigned. Gambhir made the remark in answer to a question on Star Sports from former Indian batter Aakash Chopra. When asked what he would have done if he had been handed such an analysis, the two-time World Cup winner stated he would have stepped down as captain.

IPL 2021: Bade Aaye, Doesn't Appreciate Waale, Virender Sehwag Takes a Dig at KKR Skipper Eoin Morgan

For the uninitiated, KKR has enlisted the help of England cricket team analyst Nathan Leamon, as well as AR Srikkanth, to bolster their support personnel. Although Morgan and Leamon helped England make huge advances in international cricket, they were unable to achieve the same for the IPL franchise.

Their most recent assignment saw them lose by two wickets against Chennai Super Kings. It was an exciting match, as both teams were neck and neck for most of the time. The Knight Riders scored 171/6 in their allocated 20 overs while batting first at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In the end overs, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, and Andre Russell made their willow speak, while Rahul Tripathi produced some lovely strokes upfront.

CSK had a strong start in chasing the target, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis putting up 74 runs for the first wicket. Despite the fact that the game was spiced up by fast wickets, the three-time winners finally crossed the line on the last ball of the match.

Aakash Chopra Makes Huge Prediction Regarding KKR

On Thursday, September 23, the Kolkata Knight Riders extended their winning run by registering an emphatic victory against the Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. To demonstrate their supremacy and get into the top four of the points table, KKR outplayed MI in the last match. Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer and pundit, was tempted to make two big predictions as a result of this.

MI got off to a good start, but KKR held the side to a total of 155 runs in the first innings. Venkatesh Iyer, in pursuit of the goal, once again demonstrated his dominance by scoring a ferocious half-century in the process. Against MI, Rahul Tripathi blasted the bowlers all over the place to put up a stunning unbeaten 74-ball century. They further managed to beat the Punjab Kings with six wickets in hand and one over left to spare.

KKR earlier earned a dominant victory over RCB

Following KKR’s impressive victory, Aakash Chopra went to his official Twitter account to declare that the team will go to the finals of this year’s Indian Premier League. Chopra also made another startling prediction, stating that he would not be shocked if Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL winners, do not qualify for the playoffs this season.

The first half of the Indian Premier League had to be halted because of Covid’s entry into a few training camps. For a few teams, it was anticipated that this break would go smoothly, allowing them to close any gaps in their side’s defence. In this way, it seems like KKR has gained from the hiatus since they have come back stronger in the IPL’s UAE leg of the tournament.

KKR took on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening encounter of the UAE leg. The bowlers of the side completely dismantled RCB’s formidable batting lineup. Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russel each took three wickets, causing problems for the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen. Lockie Ferguson, who took two wickets in the contest, was also a very economical bowler.

No RCB hitter was able to muster enough resistance, as the club was dismissed for 92 runs. When KKR came out to bat, they immediately seized control of the field, with their openers putting the team into a winning position. In the second innings, Shubman Gill fell only two runs short of his half-century, while Venkatesh Iyer stunned the cricketing world with an unbroken 41-run performance. The match was won by KKR by nine wickets.
