Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran are Expected to miss the first match in the UAE leg

The IPL’s second leg will begin on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. The IPL will resume in 2021, with Chennai Super Kings facing off against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. CSK, on the other hand, may have to deal with two major setbacks before the competition begins. The team’s two-star players, Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran, are both unavailable, which is causing concern.

Faf du Plessis, a South African batsman, is presently playing in the Caribbean Premier League in the West Indies. He led the Saint Lucia Kings to victory in the tournament. However, due to a groin injury, he was unable to play in the remaining two games.

This has raised questions regarding his fitness and availability for the remainder of the IPL season. A CSK official, on the other hand, has indicated that the team is optimistic that Faf du Plessis will be available for the first match.

“We are sure that Faf du Plessis will be ready to play against the Mumbai Indians in the first match. Our medical staff will evaluate him once he arrives in the UAE for the IPL 2021, but we believe the week off will have aided his recovery. “Faf, along with other CSK players Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir, will be here on Thursday (September 16),” according to a Super Kings official, as published by MyKhel.

The CSK official also stated that players arriving from the CPL will not be subjected to quarantine because it is a bubble to bubble transfer.

CSK has begun full-fledged preparations for the second leg of the IPL

CSK was one of the first teams to arrive in the United Arab Emirates to begin their preparations. In the last several weeks, the players have been training at a high level. The English all-rounder Sam Curran, on the other hand, has only recently arrived in the UAE for the competition. However, in the first game, CSK will be without his services.

Curran will be required to stay in quarantine for six days. As a result, he will be unable to take command of the field for the game against the Mumbai Indians. Curran has been a key member of the squad, and his efforts will be vital if CSK are to maintain their winning ways in the IPL’s second leg.

IPL 2021: CSK faces difficulties due to overseas player unavailability

CSK has had many issues ahead of the IPL, which begins on 19th Sept 2021.

1. Faf Du Plessis INJURED

CSK is dealt a huge blow as Faf du Plessis is injured ahead of the UAE leg

Faf Du Plessis of South Africa sustained an injury in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021), preventing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from playing the second half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

The Chennai Super Kings have already reached the UAE to set up their training camp ahead of IPL 2021, which will be held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, and most of the players involved in CPL 2021 were expected to join them after the tournament concluded.

Former South African captain, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, has been with the Chennai Super Kings since day one, except for a brief stint with Rising Pune Supergiant during the time CSK was suspended from the Indian Premier League.

After it was revealed he suffered a groin injury before the 28th match of CPL 2021 between St Lucia Kings and Barbados Royals, his participation in the second half of the IPL 2021 is in doubt. Andre Fletcher, the Kings’ stand-in captain, announced at the toss that Faf will miss this match as well as possibly others. For the Kings, he scored an unbeaten century earlier this season.

2. Dwayne Bravo INJURED

Defeating the Patriots after Bravo suffers a groin injury ends their unbeaten streak.

Bravo returned to the field in his last CPL match, but he did not bowl, so he may still be recovering from his injury.

3. Sam Curran & Moeen Ali MIGHT MISS PLAYOFFS

England players selected for the T20 WorldCup may miss the playoffs next year, causing major problems for the IPL franchises. The England team management wants its full T20 World Cup squad available for the two-match series against Pakistan.

The likes of Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Chris Woakes, Tom Curran will not be available to their teams in the Play-Offs.
