Although Bhuvaneshwar Kumar’s IPL 2021 season didn’t go so well, he seems to have the captains full support. 

Kumar, who had an average economy of 7.97, probably his worst in the IPL, did manage to show his worth for the Sunrisers in the death overs, limiting the likes of an always in-form AB De Villiers. 

When asked about Kumar’s fitness, Kohli said, “No, not at all concerned, his economy rates still continue to be top notch, something that he’s always been known for and his experience comes to the fore under pressure. If you see the game that we (Royal Challengers) played against Sunrisers, the last game, where he had to close out the game against AB de Villiers, probably one of the two or three most destructive lower-order finishers in the T20 game..”

He continued, “It explained or spoke volumes of what experience Bhuvi brings on the field, whenever we play – just the understanding of hitting the areas, according to the dimensions of the field, and what balls to bowl at what time.”

“He’s back to being at full fitness, which augurs really well for our team. I’m sure with the new ball, he’ll definitely get some kind of assistance through the tournament and, whatever little there’s on offer [for the pacers], Bhuvi knows how to make the maximum use out of that. So, his experience, as I said, is going to be priceless for us”, he concluded.

With Gill and Venkatesh Iyer putting on a good performance, it seemed like KKR could cruise into the finals. The statistics were on their side, as Delhi Capitals had never defended a total less than 150 successfully. 

Alas, the partnership broke at 96 runs. Rabada took back the control for Delhi, as they went on to take 6 wickets for 7 runs by the end. The Knights had fallen from a score of 96-1 to a miserable 130-7. The Capitals could have made their comeback and become the finalists for a second consecutive year. 

But, Rahul tripathi wasn’t done. With 6 runs required off the last 2 balls, tripathi gets a ball at a good length which he smashes past the ropes. Making KKR the third and only team to get to the finals through the eliminator and qualifier II, after Chennai Super Kings in 2012 and SunRisers Hyderabad in 2016.

Now, the finals are set for the 15th of October in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with the three time champions CSK taking on the two time champions KKR. Will it be a repeat of the 2012 finals? Or will the Kings find a way to slay the Knights?

On Saturday, Ruturaj Gaikwad of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batted well (October 2). He blasted an unbeaten 101 off only 60 balls, batting through the innings and contributing to his team’s 189-run total. Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara was blown away by the youngster’s batting and lavished accolades on him after the game.

Gaikwad smashed nine fours and five sixes during his time in the middle and never lost his form despite taking huge smashes. All of them were clean hits, and Lara was pleased with the way Ruturaj managed his innings. The opening batter hit 30 runs off 29 balls and then cruised through the opposing bowling attack in the second part of the innings.

“Yeah, he might have been on 135 if he had more strikes in the last overs. However, it was a full display of batsmanship. That is what I appreciate about him: watching how he strung together that inning, how he surged in the second part of the inning. He was simply incredible to watch,” Lara remarked of Ruturaj Gaikwad in an interview on Star Sports.

Former Australia fast bowler Jason Gillespie slammed Shane Warne for labelling Ravi Ashwin’s performance in the Indian Premier League 2021 “disgraceful.” Ashwin was investigated for allegedly violating the Spirit of Cricket during the Delhi Capitals’ match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Tim Southee and KKR captain Eoin Morgan were engaged in an argument with Ashwin. The incident arose after Ashwin attempted to sneak a second run after the ball struck Rishabh Pant’s arms. Sam Curran, an all rounder of Chennai Super Kings was ruled out of Indian Premium League 2021 because of a back injury. Along with that, the left-arm pace bowling all rounder will miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup event.

Dominic Drakes from the West Indies has been selected as a replacement by Chennai Super Kings for Sam Curran. Drakes has been in the United Arab Emirates as a net bowler which would lead to making his debut for the team in the IPL. It needs to be understood that Dominic has not yet made his debut for his national team yet. 

Sam Curran has been part of the Chennai Super Kings since last year and is considered to be one of the best players among the Chennai Super Kings squad. 

Sam Curran said that he felt extremely sad that he was going to miss the upcoming IPL 2021 Playoffs and the ICC T20 World Cup because of his injury.

However, many believe Dhoni will not play in the next season, and he has been dreadfully out of form with the bat.

That does not seem to be the case, as Dhoni has hinted at playing another IPL season. Speaking virtually to some of his supporters, the former Indian captain said that he would ‘hopefully’ play his last game in Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. With the current IPL 2021 in the UAE, Dhoni’s remark plainly suggests that he intends to play again next season.

“You will still have the chance to wish me goodbye. Sanjay Manjrekar, a former Indian cricketer who now works as a broadcaster, feels Yuzvendra Chahal is back to his best. If his past two appearances in the UAE offer any indication, Chahal is returning to form. During the first half of the season, he only achieved four wickets at an average of 47.25 and a costly economy rate of 8.26 in seven appearances. Gayle, who was born in Jamaica, was the first hitter to achieve the milestone. In the shorter format, the left-hander has almost 14,000 runs, 22 centuries, and 87 fifties to his credit.

Pollard then arrived at the landmark. While Gayle is a member of the Punjab Kings, headed by KL Rahul, Pollard is the MI squad’s vice-captain and only leads the team when Rohit Sharma, the normal skipper, is unavailable. The 39-year-old Malik, on the other hand, was a member of the Delhi Daredevils, who are now the Capitals, in the IPL’s first season.

In the meanwhile, Warner is playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the current IPL. He was also replaced as the captain of the Orange Army earlier this year, with Kane Williamson taking over. Rohit Sharma and Aaron Finch are the only batsmen in the current squad who have scored over 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
