Sharma Leads India’s Young Squad to a Convincing Victory

Rohit Sharma, after not playing the first warm up match against England, was finally selected in the squad for the second match against Australia.

India, after conceding 152 runs as a target, went on to win the match easily by 9 wickets. From the bowling side, the experience of R. Ashwin came in handy as he took 2 major wickets at only 8 runs. In the second innings, instead of opening with Kishan and KL, the squad opened the batting with KL and Rohit Sharma. They partnered up to score 68 runs together, until KL’s wicket was taken. At 60 runs for 41 balls, Rohit Sharma wasn’t slowing down. Eventually he had to be retired to give others a chance to assess and play on the pitch.

The match started with Finch choosing to bat, as India took 3 wickets for Australia’s first 11 wickets. After that it was up to the likes of Smith, Maxwell and Stoinis to play smartly and get a defendable total. But eventually their bowling side let them down.

Kohli, who led the Indian team during the first innings, also bowled 2 overs for lack of a better option. While Sharma took charge of the batting innings, he retired at 60 and Suryakumar finished off Australia with a 38 from just 27 deliveries.

India now go into the World Cup and their first match against Pakistan with 2 straight wins, although in a warm up, against 2 of the best teams in the world.

KL Says Dhoni’s Presence “Gives a Sense of Calmness’

The Indian youth selected for the reserve and main squad is enjoying Dhoni’s presence as they pick his brain to improve their game and India’s chances of winning the T20 World Cup

KL Rahul, who appeared for the Red Bull Campus Cricket Clubhouse session, said, “Obviously, MS Dhoni back with the team feels amazing because we have played under him and we have looked towards him as a mentor even when he was our captain.”

We have all looked up to him to help us out, to have him here is amazing,” he said. “This gives us a sense of calmness. I have enjoyed spending time with him in the first two to three days and it has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to chewing his brain about cricket, captaincy and all things cricket.”

Inclusive of Rahul, the fans are not sure if the IPL finals win earlier this month was Dhoni’s last game ever. Speculation has emerged that Thalla might play his last game of cricket, for his side the Chennai Super Kings, in Chepauk, in front of the fans in 2022.

KL, said that despite Dhoni’s age, he still is a big competitor when it comes to IPL matches and playing against him.

“I think Dhoni can give any of us stiff competition, he definitely is a guy who can hit the ball farthest, he is very strong and he is good (while running) between the wickets. He looks the fittest, it is good fun to have him,” Rahul said.

Punjab Kings Captain KL Rahul has Asked the Owners to let him Join Another Team

IPL 2021 is in its last stage and the season has its fair share of ups and downs.

With two new teams joining the tournament with the mega auction coming in the coming month things might take different turns especially when the game returns to India in the next season.

Along with that, KL Rahul is a Bangalorean. His family shifted there many decades ago and this move would be beneficial for both him and the team making it a hot topic of discussion for all.

Brian Lara Compares Ruturaj Gaikwad And KL Rahul After Brilliant Batting Performance

He blasted an unbeaten 101 off only 60 balls, batting through the innings and contributing to his team’s 189-run total. “Yeah, he might have been on 135 if he had more strikes in the last overs. However, it was a full display of batsmanship. That is what I appreciate about him: watching how he strung together that inning, how he surged in the second part of the inning. He was simply incredible to watch,” Lara remarked of Ruturaj Gaikwad in an interview on Star Sports.
