The Australian off spinner, Nathan Lyon, suffered a mild concussion in an intrasquad game for New South Wales whilst fielding. He is predicted to be fine and fit enough to play the first game for Sheffield Shield on Wednesday against Victoria.
The offspinner became a big name for Indian cricket fans through the India vs Australia test series held in December last year.
Lyon hit his head while fielding on the first day of what was supposed to be a three day practice match. After bowling 20 overs for just 79 runs and even a wicket, he woke up with a headache the next day. As a precaution he has been benched until further notice.
Other Australian test hopefuls alongside Lyon will also be available for at least 2 matches in the Sheffield Shield. The likes of Moses Henriques, Marcus, James Pattinson and Sean Abbot will all be available. Although, a 14 day quarantine will be required in Queensland ahead of the Ashes.
