World Cup T20 2021: David Wiese to represent Namibia

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, teams from around the world will compete. The spectacular event is just days away, to begin on October 17. Teams have been playing T20 cricket to prepare for the ICC event. The most T20 World Cups have been won by West Indies.

England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan have each won one World Cup. Despite winning the ODI World Cup five times, Australia hasn’t won a T20 World Cup.

MS Dhoni captained India to victory in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. In a thrilling final, India defeated Pakistan to win the World Cup.

The T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in Dubai on October 24. The two countries will face off against one another. On October 31, India will play New Zealand, and on November 3, Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, he has been chosen to represent Namibia at the upcoming World Cup. Former Namibian coach Pierre de Bruyn confirmed the development in an interview.

David Wiese will play for Namibia in the 2021 T20 World Cup

The former South African all-rounder will represent Namibia at the upcoming World Cup 2021. The showpiece event will take place in Oman and the UAE.

Wiese was a member of the Proteas’ team for the 2016 T20 World Cup in India. Despite this, he didn’t get enough playing time, so he signed with Kolpak. As a result, he was not able to represent South Africa.

Wiese took 33 wickets in 6 ODIs and 20 T20Is. He last played for South Africa in 2016. Wiese qualifies for Namibia’s team due to his father’s birth there. All-over he has played 255 games.

David’s dad was born here, so he’s eligible to play for Namibia. He’s playing in the T20 Blast in England, but will join us after that and is also available going forward after the World Cup, so I’m super excited about that,” said De Bruyn.

Namibia is placed in Group A with Sri Lanka, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The top two teams will advance to the next round.

His team, Sussex, are in the quarterfinals so we must see how far he gets there, but I hope he will be able to join for the Free State trip at least. With the experience of playing in various T20 leagues around the world, including the IPL, he will be hopeful of making an impact with his new international team,” Pierre de Bruyn added.
