According to reports, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith will not play in the IPL 2021

Punjab Kings fans are in for some heartbreak, as the team’s two main fast bowlers – Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith – will not play in the remaining matches of IPL 2021. Four Australian players will skip the Phase of the IPL 2021, according to Cricket.com.au.

These four names are Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Kane Richardson, and Pat Cummins. The Kolkata Knight Riders were already without Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson had withdrawn from the IPL 2021 in the first round.

Royal Challengers Bangalore signed New Zealand fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn in place of Richardson. Nonetheless, the absence of two fast bowlers for Punjab Kings was surprising, particularly since the franchise spent a lot of money on their services.

“Cricket.com.au reported on Thursday that Josh Hazlewood is also close to committing to play for Chennai. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are among the contracted Australian players who are not expected to return.

Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson perform for Punjab Kings

Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson had never played in the Indian Premier League before the 2021 season. Nevertheless, the Punjab Kings spent a lot on their services. During the first phase of the competition, both Australian pacers failed to justify their price tags.

Richardson scored 15 runs and took three wickets for the Punjab Kings in three matches. Meredith took four wickets in five matches during this period. Punjab Kings will have to replace the two-star fast bowlers soon.

IPL franchises have signed Nathan Ellis as a replacement after he scored a hat-trick on his debut against Bangladesh. The name of the franchise has not yet been announced, but it is likely to be Punjab Kings.

The 26-year-old Ellis has signed a contract with the UAE leg of the @IPL after being chased by three clubs.
