Pooran Looking to Refocus After the IPL 2021

After a poor season for the Punjab Kings, the West Indian Vice Captain Nicolas Pooran said, “I just have to refocus and go again.” He added, “It’s just for me to refocus now, hit the nets, work hard and plan again – as simple as that.”

Nicolas Pooran, a vital player for the Punjab middle order, didn’t have the focus and form required by the side this season. But, he looks to improve on his skills and abilities to help his country win the T20 World Cup

Although his performance wasn’t up to the mark in the IPL this season, he did produce amazing strike rates and shots in the CPL for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, proving that this poor performance was just a minor distraction.

He also mentioned that the West Indies side will be trying to take more singles this time around as compared to their previous campaigns, but the focus will still be on the big shots. The two time world cup winners look to dominate the tournament again with the heavy hitters like Gayle, Brathwaite, Russell , Pooran and more on the squad.

Punjab Kings Captain KL Rahul has Asked the Owners to let him Join Another Team

IPL 2021 is in its last stage and the season has its fair share of ups and downs.

Facing the initial matches in the country, the tournament had to shift to UAE because of the situation with Covid-19 in the country during the respective time. The change in the situation did not seem to do very well for the batsman and a lot of teams and their batsman had to suffer on a huge account. It included teams such as Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With two new teams joining the tournament with the mega auction coming in the coming month things might take different turns especially when the game returns to India in the next season.

Amidst all of this, there are reports that the captain of Punjab Kings, KL Rahul has secretively requested the franchise to release him ahead of the mega auction. KL Rahul is currently the orange cap holder with the leading run scorer in the present ongoing IPL season. He is also part of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2021.

The reports state that KL Rahul is interested in joining Royal Challengers Bangalore as a team and the franchise is also interested in him as they are looking for a new captain and a fiery batsman and KL Rahul seems to fit the bill. Along with that, KL Rahul is a Bangalorean. His family shifted there many decades ago and this move would be beneficial for both him and the team making it a hot topic of discussion for all.

According to reports, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith will not play in the IPL 2021

Punjab Kings fans are in for some heartbreak, as the team’s two main fast bowlers – Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith – will not play in the remaining matches of IPL 2021. Four Australian players will skip the Phase of the IPL 2021, according to Cricket.com.au.

These four names are Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Kane Richardson, and Pat Cummins. The Kolkata Knight Riders were already without Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson had withdrawn from the IPL 2021 in the first round.

Royal Challengers Bangalore signed New Zealand fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn in place of Richardson. Nonetheless, the absence of two fast bowlers for Punjab Kings was surprising, particularly since the franchise spent a lot of money on their services.

“Cricket.com.au reported on Thursday that Josh Hazlewood is also close to committing to play for Chennai. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are among the contracted Australian players who are not expected to return.

Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson perform for Punjab Kings

Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson had never played in the Indian Premier League before the 2021 season. Nevertheless, the Punjab Kings spent a lot on their services. During the first phase of the competition, both Australian pacers failed to justify their price tags.

Richardson scored 15 runs and took three wickets for the Punjab Kings in three matches. Meredith took four wickets in five matches during this period. Punjab Kings will have to replace the two-star fast bowlers soon.

IPL franchises have signed Nathan Ellis as a replacement after he scored a hat-trick on his debut against Bangladesh. The name of the franchise has not yet been announced, but it is likely to be Punjab Kings.

The 26-year-old Ellis has signed a contract with the UAE leg of the @IPL after being chased by three clubs.
