The Hundred’s first-ever hat-trick winner is Imran Tahir. Tahir took five wickets and the last three wickets in succession. Birmingham Phoenix beat Welsh Fire thanks to a hat trick.
In response to the fifty runs by Will Smeed and Moeen Ali, Birmingham Phoenix posted an imposing 185 run target. The Welsh Fire lost their first wicket with the seventh delivery of the innings and never seemed to be in control of the chase.
During his first spell, Imran Tahir took the wickets of Glenn Phillips and Leus du Plooy. After 40 balls, the chasing side was 55-4 after two win dismissals. It looked like the league leaders would win with their target seemingly out of reach.
In three consecutive deliveries, Imran Tahir won the tail order. In addition to being the oldest player in the competition, he also became the first player to score a hat-trick.
