Today, 12th August, the 2nd Test match of the five-match series begins at Lord’s cricket ground in London.
On the final day of the first Test match, India required 157 runs to win. But the 5th day of play was completely ruined by rain, which resulted in a draw.
It was cloudy at Lord’s cricket ground. The captain of England, Joe Root opted to bowl after winning the toss.
Seeing that Ravichandran Ashwin missing from the game made Indian fans curious. The Indian captain, Virat Kohli later said that Ashwin has been left out of the playing eleven due to the pitch condition and weather conditions.
Virat Kohli stated, “We announced 12 within the group, and Ashwin was definitely was part of that. But this (playing Ishant over Ashwin) makes the most sense for us as a team.“
Further commenting about fans being allowed in the match, he said, “With the crowds back in, it’s a pleasure to be here. An honour to play in front of crowds.”
